Buying Unusual Engagement Rings

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Buying Unusual Engagement RingsBuying unusual engagement rings can be a novel way of expressing ones love.
Many people like to buy an engagement ring that is novel and unusual. Perhaps an engagement ring s of white gold or platinum perhaps. Not a cheap engagement ring but a small but well formed and good quality diamond is a good idea.

Perhaps a half to a full carat with an 18 karat ring would be ideal.

It is a good idea to write down what you are looking for before you leave home. List the type of ring you want, yellow gold or white gold or perhaps a platinum ring. A good quality platinum ring will set you back more than gold but is very hard wearing and very enduring.
Decide on a size of stone and quality. You can find charts of types of stones here on this website. Decide how much you want to pay. This will depend on your budget of course but it is suggested to go to the top of your budget and get the best diamond engagement ring possible. Perhaps a ring with one stone in the center surrounded by a few very small stones either side. An Antique engagement ring would be unusual and very different to the standard ring you can buy in the mall.

Ensure you get a certificate with the diamond to show the qualities of the diamond,. Its carat weight, cut, color and clarity. These are important points to keep in mind.

Lastly how is the stone going to be set in the ring? Prongs or claws is the best method. That way you can see the underside of the diamond and the light will have a chance of shining through.

Always pick a diamond in the daylight, not in the shop lights which are designed to show off the diamond in the best possible way but not as you would normally see it.

If you go armed with your specifications before hand, it is less likely you will be ‘sold’ something you don’t really want.

Lastly, whatever you buy, it is a good idea to ensure you buy the best unusual engagement ring you can find and James Allen is well worth a visit to see some unusual diamond engagement rings.
