Six Million Dollar Flawless Diamond on Show
The largest brilliant cut flawless diamond ever to be sold is currently on display in London. Due to be auctioned in Geneva in November the pure white diamond will visit Bahrain and Dubai before the auction which will be on November the 14th.
The diamond has received the highest ever possible grading from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) in terms of its colour and clarity, while its cut, polish and symmetry have all been labeled excellent.
The diamond weighs 84.37 carats and is estimated to be worth £5.9 million to £7.8 million.
Large diamonds are extremely rare and good quality flawless diamonds the rarest. There have been less than 20 top quality large diamonds ever found in thee world and the price per carat is usually in the thousands.
The most expensive stone ever sold was the 100.10-carat Star Of The Season diamond (pictured) which was auctioned by Sotheby’s in May 1995. It was sold for $16.5 million.
David Bennett, the chairman of jewellery at Sotheby’s Europe and the Middle East, said: “We are very privileged to have been chosen as the auction house to offer this magnificent and unique stone and aim to provide the perfect arena for it to receive the exposure that it deserves.
“In my 32-year career, this stone ranks among the most beautiful diamonds I have ever seen.”
There are also rumors of an even bigger stone come up for possible auction early next year.
