GIA Now Offering Discounts
The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) has just announced some new services along with its recent offerings of the colored gemstone Identification Reports. GIA Clients may now access report delivery on a priority 48 hour basis. In addition new services such as discounts for volume, more detailed quality assurance reports and a more comprehensive analysis of gemstones is being offered.
The GIA, in addition to its current services, will now offer country of origin opinions on ruby, sapphire, emerald, and tourmaline in its Identification Reports, when requested. In addition, analytical reports would be generated to inform on RI, SG, UV fluorescence, a description of the inclusions, color distribution, and the stone chemistry.
Now four types of QARs (Quality Assurance Reports) would be for sorting, batch testing, preliminary testing, and beryllium testing for corundum. A â??Volume Discountâ? service would assure customers of a certain discount on, with a minimum of 10, the same type of a specified number of stones to start with.
Senior Vice President of GIA Laboratory and Research, Tom Moses, stated, â??The GIA Laboratory has made a four-part commitment to the industry: to provide additional services to our clients, to add significant capacity, to perform the work in half the time, and to accomplish this without sacrificing any of our standardsâ?.
The GIA seems to be gearing up for a more competitive approach to gemstone analysis.
