Diamond Conference

Diamond ConferenceThe up and coming Diamond Conference to be held on October the 1`5th and 16th this year will be hosted by the Flanders Congress & Concert Centre (Elisabethzaal). Organized by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (HRD), the main thrust of the conference will be on ââ?¬Ë?Producer Countries: Changing the Industry Dynamicââ?¬â?˘,
500 policy makers from the diamond sector will be gathered in the Flanders Congress and Concert Centre ââ?¬Ë?Koningin Elisabethzaalââ?¬â?˘ for the third HRD Diamond Conference. The event has become the major discussion forum on the international diamond calendar. Last yearââ?¬â?˘s conference was entirely dedicated to consumer confidence in natural diamonds.
The feature speaker at the conference will be the esteemed Nobel Prize winner for Economics, Joseph E. Stiglitz, would be the main speaker for the conference. Stiglitz served as a World Bank chief economist from 1996 to 1999. He has also served on the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers from 1993 to 1997 under President Clinton.

Also present at the event would be Javier Solana, the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Defense of the European Union.

Leaders from several African diamond-producing countries are also expected to attend the Antwerp conference.

The event will be followed by a gala dinner at the Waagnatie, a reconverted warehouse on the bank of the Scheldt River.
HRD is the official representative of the Belgian diamond sector and author of a 29 billion USD annual turnover. As the principal trade platform for rough and polished diamonds, Antwerp wants to lead the debate on the sector�s future. Within three years, the HRD Diamond Conference has developed into the main discussion forum for new developments in the diamond sector, for which 500 policy makers from all over the world come to Antwerp.
At the same time, it provides a platform for intensive networking among the world’s leading professionals in the diamond and jewelry business, right in the heart of Antwerp, the leading diamond center of the world.
